At the presentation event of the book ‘Transition towards a sustainable tourism model in the Canary Islands<\/a>‘, organized by the CajaCanarias Foundation and the Canary Islands Government, Juan Carlos de Le\u00f3n<\/strong>, Operations Director of GF Hoteles, highlighted the importance of involving the entire organization in the transition towards sustainable management.<\/p>\n

During his speech, de Le\u00f3n shared GF Hoteles’ experience in the field of sustainability<\/a>, going back to the year 2009. He emphasized that “the best way to achieve sustainable management is by measuring its impact and making decisions<\/strong>.” These words emphasized the importance of constantly measuring and evaluating the environmental and social impact of an organization’s actions, and making decisions based on this data to achieve more sustainable management.<\/p>\n

The discussion focused on the importance of promoting a shift towards a sustainable tourism model in the Canary Islands<\/strong>, and it was highlighted that this process cannot be limited solely to individual company actions, but rather requires the active and committed participation of all organizational stakeholders. From top management to frontline employees, each person plays a crucial role in implementing sustainable practices and making decisions that minimize negative impacts on the environment.<\/p>\n

The debate also featured the participation of professors and members of the C\u00e1tedra de Turismo CajaCanarias<\/a> – Ashotel at the University of La Laguna, Ra\u00fal Hern\u00e1ndez and Noem\u00ed Padr\u00f3n. In addition, Juan Pablo Gonz\u00e1lez, Manager of Ashotel<\/a> – Hotel and Extra-Hotel Association of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and Lola Rodr\u00edguez de Azero, CEO of Senda Ecoway<\/a>, joined the panel of experts.<\/p>\n
