GF Fa\u00f1ab\u00e9 has received the ‘Recognition for Hotel Chain Property in the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife’ for its integration of photovoltaic systems in the hotel sector.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Spanish Photovoltaic Union, UNEF<\/a>, and Familiy Torres<\/a> recognize GF Fa\u00f1ab\u00e9 at the ‘1st Awards for Photovoltaic Integration in the Canary Islands’<\/strong> hotel sector in 2023 for their significant commitment to renewable energy through the installation of photovoltaic panels in their facilities. Danisa \u00c1lvarez<\/strong>, manager of GF Fa\u00f1ab\u00e9, and Mois\u00e9s Exp\u00f3sito Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong>, Sustainability Coordinator of GF Hoteles, received the award at the ceremony held at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Mencey.<\/p>\n

This award, which recognizes the hotel chain property in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, highlights GF Fa\u00f1ab\u00e9’s commitment and leadership in the implementation of sustainable technologies, making it a benchmark for the hotel and tourism sector.<\/p>\n

Mois\u00e9s Exp\u00f3sito Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong> expressed his gratitude for this award, stating that it demonstrates that GF Hoteles “is on the right path that we started more than a decade ago.” He also emphasized the fundamental role of sustainability for the hotel chain, stating that it is part of the corporate culture and is approached as “a marathon where the important thing is not to be the first, but to maintain a constant pace.”<\/p>\n

The acting Councillor for Ecological Transition of the Canary Island Government, Jos\u00e9 Antonio Valbuena<\/strong>, stated that it was fair to recognize the hotel sector for their initiative in implementing sustainable measures ahead of the government administrations themselves.<\/p>\n

For his part, Miguel Torres<\/strong>, President of Bodegas Torres, urged all companies and public administrations to accelerate the adoption of clean energies in a destination like the Canary Islands, which still heavily relies on fossil fuels. Likewise, Jos\u00e9 Donoso, CEO of UNEF, emphasized that these awards promote self-consumption not only for businesses but for society as a whole, as a way to democratize energy.<\/p>\n

The installation of 206 photovoltaic panels at GF Fa\u00f1ab\u00e9 has yielded significant results in terms of reducing CO2 emissions. It is estimated that these photovoltaic panels enable a reduction of 11.7 tons of CO2 per year and contribute to supplying 6% of the hotel’s annual energy consumption.<\/p>\n

Indeed, this recognition highlights the responsible growth of the hotel sector in terms of sustainability.
